Josh Gilmore has dedicated more than 30 years to Frederick County soccer as a player, coach, and an administrator, leaving a lasting impact at the high school,collegiate, club, and state levels. His commitment to developing both athletes and the programs that support them has made him one of the most respected leaders in the local soccer community.
Gilmore currently serves FC Frederick Soccer Club in multiple leadership roles, including FC Frederick Juniors Director, Travel Futsal Director, Winter Soccer School Director, Pro Director of Operations, and Coaching Education Coordinator. In these positions, he oversees player development, staff support, programming, scheduling, league relations, and coach education initiatives, helping strengthen the club from the grassroots level through its highest competitive teams.
As a coach, Gilmore holds US Soccer Federation “C” and “D” Licenses and has spent more than 15 years with FC Frederick. He coached nine years with the Maryland Olympic Development Program, leading U13 and U14 boys. He also guided FC Frederick’s CCL Pro23 men’s program as head coach and assistant coach, while serving nine seasons as an assistant coach for Hood College men’s soccer. At the high school level, Gilmore led Linganore High School as varsity head coach for nine seasons and JV head coach for three seasons. Under his leadership, Linganore won the 2011 MVAL Championship and captured the 2012 3A West Region Championship, advancing to the state semifinals.
Gilmore also founded Frederick Community College’s women’s soccer program, serving as its first head coach and building the team from the ground up. He later coached Loyola College’s women’s club team as well. As a player, Gilmore competed for Linganore High School, Frederick Community College, and Bushwallers FC, earning All-CMC and All-Area honors in 1994.
